Informal Survey Results

– Inspired Caring does not conduct formal surveys—but we’ve seen the impact. After 8 years leading survey review committees in Assisted Living and Nursing Home communities, Founder, Michele Magner, has consistently seen this:
• When families are properly educated and supported, survey scores improve—especially in areas like communication, trust, and overall satisfaction.
• Inspired Caring fills a major gap by giving families the tools and context they need, which ultimately reflects positively in your community feedback and outcomes.

“Bringing Inspired Caring and Michele Magner into our lives was absolutely the best decision for our family. She helped us navigate the rollercoaster of dementia and kept my brother and I (and our families) connected and educated. Weekly sessions to discuss new developments with our Dad created a common language and shared expectations. I recommend her guidance to anyone faced with dementia, Alzheimer’s or other end of life events”.

Expectation Management – Inspired Caring helps you deliver on your promise of partnership with families—without overloading your frontline leaders.
• Families are under intense emotional stress before and after a loved one moves into memory care.
• Our Executive Directors and Directors of Nursing are committed, but they’re stretched thin—pulled in multiple directions every day.
• The level of family need often exceeds the time and bandwidth our leaders have available to provide consistent education and reassurance.
• This gap leaves families feeling confused, overwhelmed, and at times, unsupported—despite our best intentions.
How Inspired Caring Fills the Gap
• Prepares families emotionally and practically for the transition to memory care, easing anxiety and reducing crisis-driven calls.
• Acts as a third-party, trusted voice, reinforcing that their loved one is safe and receiving quality care—even during leadership changes.
• Reduces burnout risk for our EDs and DONs by supplementing, repetitive, emotionally draining family education tasks.
• When building leadership changes (which happen even in strong organizations), Inspired Caring provides continuity and calm for families.

“My Mom went from assisted living to skilled nursing after being hospitalized. It seemed like overnight but obviously it wasn’t. That meant a lot of decisions had to be made very quickly. We were not prepared for these steps, we had discussed them but had not taken the steps needed. Michele came to our rescue. She helped us with what needed to be to get done quickly. If Michele had not been there to help the process would not have gone so smoothly and Mom would not have ended up in a place we were happy with for Mom. Michele was our hero. Nobody wants to prepare for these steps but it really is a process people should do ahead of time. It is really hard to make these decisions under the stress you are under when the time comes. Michele helped us understand the entire process through the end. I don’t know what we would have done without her help. She was a blessing.”

Improve Communication – Inspired Caring doesn’t just support families—it protects your teams, strengthens trust, and reduces preventable drama in the building.
• Just like our team members, families need ongoing education and support—most have had no training in dementia or the 5 Phases of Caregiving©.
• Without it, they visit their loved one and often leave frustrated, sad, or confused, sometimes taking it out on the resident or your staff.
• This creates emotional ripple effects the team then spends time managing —pulling focus from care.
• Lack of dementia education leads to damaging interactions like: “Don’t you remember, mom?” Creating an energetic agitation for everyone within earshot.
• Family conflict spills into the building, also creating confusion around care plans.
• Emotions run high—grief and fear often come out as anger toward staff or guilt around the resident.
How Inspired Caring Fills the Gap
• Proactively educates families to reduce emotional outbursts and build realistic expectations.
• Supports direct care staff by calming family dynamics and reducing blame or miscommunication.
• Complements support groups by addressing the root causes of distress—education, expectations, and emotional regulation.
• With membership, the program is licensed for direct access by all family members and can be used as structured content by the building support group leader as they see fit.

Nebraska Alzheimer's Special Care Unit Disclosure and Memory Care Endorsement Application Requirements – In section 5.I of Disclosure Information there is the requirement to have a Family Support Program. Inspired Caring is the family support program for your building.
Not all states mandate a family support program, but it is best practice to have one.

Driving Census Growth – Inspired Caring is a value-add that supports families before, during, and after the move—helping them make informed decisions with more confidence.
Moving a loved one into Assisted Living is one of the hardest decisions families face—and many delay too long, risking the health, safety and wellbeing of the older adult.
How Inspired Caring Fills the Gap
• The "Illuminating Senior Living" course, included with membership, addresses common objections older adults have about moving—giving families the language and tools to navigate tough conversations.
• Helps families move from hesitation to action, accelerating decision-making during inquiry and sales cycles.
• Provides ongoing family support post-move, improving satisfaction, reducing regrets and guilt, and increasing word-of-mouth referrals.
• Adds tangible value to your offer—you’re not just selling care, you’re offering peace of mind.

Corrective Actions – Inspired Caring turns a challenge into an opportunity—a clear sign that you take complaints seriously and act with purpose.

Risk Mitigation - Inspired Caring helps reduce risk, protect staff, and stabilize the care environment by addressing one of the biggest pain points: family misunderstanding.
Given the substantial role families play in legal actions, assisted living facilities can benefit from proactive measures to educate and engage families, thereby reducing misunderstandings and potential legal conflicts. Programs like Inspired Caring offer structured education and support to families, fostering better communication and understanding of care practices and limitations.
By implementing such programs, you demonstrate a commitment to transparency and quality care, potentially mitigating risks associated with family-initiated legal actions.
o Informed families are less likely to escalate concerns into formal complaints.
o Education helps families understand dementia behaviors, care limitations, and regulatory boundaries—reducing misinterpretation of disease progression as staff negligence.
o Sets clear expectations around challenging behaviors (e.g., exit-seeking, aggression, wandering), so they’re seen as part of the diagnosis, not a failure in care.
Protects Community Stability and Staff Well-Being
o Decreases emotionally charged confrontations in the building and at the front desk.
o Families arrive more calm, prepared, and solution-focused—not accusatory or distressed.
o Reduces the risk of inaccurate online reviews or complaints driven by confusion or guilt.
o A more supportive, informed family dynamic improves staff morale and retention—which directly supports quality of care and compliance.

Innovation – Times have changed—how we support families must change too. Families are in your buildings every day, but their journey doesn’t get easier after move-in.
An online family support and education program is an innovative and compassionate approach because it goes beyond traditional brochures and care plan and support group meetings. It creates a bridge between emotional understanding, education, and ongoing partnership. Here's how it redefines the support families receive:
• Our teams lift the burden of daily care, but families are still navigating guilt, grief, and uncertainty.
• Their relationships with their loved one has shifted—and they often don’t know how to move forward with confidence and the ability to “meet someone where they are at.”
• Important decisions still lie ahead (e.g., Hospice, care planning)—but currently families lack the tools and understanding to make them calm and decisively.
Why Inspired Caring Is an Innovative Solution:
• Scalable + Personal: All family members—local or out of state—can access support anytime.
• Tech-Forward: Delivers education in a format today’s families expect from modern care environments.
• Continuity of Learning: Not a one-time handout. Content grows with the resident’s journey—families revisit as needs evolve.
• Emotional Support + Decision Tools: Helps families move through this chapter with more clarity, less guilt, and greater confidence.
